Informational efficiency in distressed markets: The case of European corporate bonds

This paper investigates the effect of the 2008 financial crisis on informational efficiency by carrying out a long-memory analysis of European corporate bond markets. We compute the Hurst exponent for fifteen sectorial indices to scrutinise the time-varying behaviour of long-range memory, applying a shuffling technique to avoid short-term correlation. We find that the financial crisis has uneven effects on the informational efficiency of all corporate bond sectors, especially those related to financial services. La gestión de proyectos vista desde la Ingeniería de Sistemas

Desde sus respectivos comienzos, la gestión de proyectos y la Ingeniería de Sistemas han ido de la mano. Este hecho ha traído consigo el desarrollo de unas habilidades, herramientas y técnicas propias de cada campo coherentes entre sí. Muy probablemente, esta coherencia no sea ajena a una circunstancia que se da frecuentemente -en el ponente de esta conferencia, sin ir más lejos-: la llegada a la gestión de proyectos tras una trayectoria profesional en la Ingeniería de Sistemas. A lo largo de la conferencia se tratan, a vista de pájaro, aspectos de las áreas de conocimiento de integración, tiempo, costes y recursos en lo que se refiere, fundamentalmente, a la planificación y la monitorización y control de proyectos. En la conferencia, se contrastan los modelos teóricos de la gestión de proyectos con las experiencias reales recogidas por el conferenciante en su trayectoria profesional. Some stylized facts of the Bitcoin market

In recent years a new type of tradable assets appeared, generically known as cryptocurrencies. Among them, the most widespread is Bitcoin. Given its novelty, this paper investigates some statistical properties of the Bitcoin market. This study compares Bitcoin and standard currencies dynamics and focuses on the analysis of returns at different time scales. We test the presence of long memory in return time series from 2011 to 2017, using transaction data from one Bitcoin platform. We compute the Hurst exponent by means of the Detrended Fluctuation Analysis method, using a sliding window in order to measure long range dependence. We detect that Hurst exponents changes significantly during the first years of existence of Bitcoin, tending to stabilize in recent times. Fractions and Pythagorean Tuning: An Interdisciplinary Study in Secondary Education

[Abstract] Formal education is experiencing a series of reforms that favor the integration of the contents of different areas in the teaching and learning of the different educational stages. The present study examined the use of an interdisciplinary music and mathematics experience in Secondary Education in Galicia (Spain) in the 2016/17 academic year. A descriptive–exploratory design was used, through a Likert questionnaire applied to 197 students with a diagnostic test and a reference test, and a study of multiple cases was carried out in which information was collected through classroom observations. The results show improvements in the understanding of mathematical and musical concepts, and attitudes and procedures so we can argue that the use of interdisciplinary activities have favored the development of teaching–learning opportunities in mathematical and musical training
